The Nigeria was at his best as he got a goal and an assist for the Royal Blues in their narrow escape against Sporting Lisbon in Tuesday's Champions League game
Nigeria international Chinedu Obasi was on target for Schalke 04 in their 4-3 win over Sporting Lisbon in a Champions League game played on Tuesday evening at the Veltins-Arena in Germany.
The visitors had raced to the lead through a Nani 16th minute strike before the Nigeria pulled his team back on level terms 14 minutes later.
Obasi assisted Klaas Jan Huntelaar for his 51st minute strike after slipping a pass to the Dutch forward following an intelligent run from Draxler.
However, he shot wide four minutes later but Schalke did not wait long to extend their lead - Howedes heading Kaan Ayhan's free-kick in on the hour mark.
He was replaced in the 65th minutes by Max Meyer.
With this result, the Germans are now placed second behind Chelsea who had spanked Slovenia outfit Maribor 7-0 at the Stamford Bridge.
