'We'll see what Chelsea can do' - Pellegrini refuses to panic after Manchester City loss

Goals from Morgan Amalfitano and Diafra Sakho gave the home side a deserved victory at Upton Park, despite David Silva's late strike, but the Chilean is remaining calm
Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini insists he is not worried by his side's form following their 2-1 loss to West Ham, and turned the pressure back on title rivals Chelsea.

The Premier League champions had a chance to close the gap on the unbeaten Blues against the Hammers, but failed to pick up three points, with goals from Morgan Amalfitano and Diafra Sakho giving the home side a deserved victory, despite David Silva's brilliant late strike.

Pellegrini, though, is refusing to panic, insisting that he "will see what Chelsea can do" as Jose Mourinho's side aim to continue their flawless start to the season against Manchester United on Sunday.

"I continue to trust the group of players," he told reporters. "We’re in a good position, there’s not any target we can’t achieve at the moment. I am always concerned about my team, what other teams can do is not my concern.

"We will see what Chelsea can do. We have 87 points to fight for. The pressure is exactly the same as the first game.”

Pellegrini conceded that City must get better and admits that the second-half display from his side - as they peppered the home goal with efforts - was much improved on a languid first 45 minutes.

“I always say that when we concede goals we can do better," he said.

"Today also we missed two or three clear chances in the other box. Of course, you try to play the same way in the whole game, that’s not always possible, there’s a lot of things that change in the 90 minutes."
