Japan Open: Routine win for top-ranked Juan Martin Del Potro

Top seed Juan Martin Del Potro breezed through to the third round of the Japan Open with a comprehensive win over Carlos Berlocq.

The 25-year-old raced to a 6-2 6-2 victory over his fellow Argentinean in Tokyo.However second seed Jo-Wilfried Tsonga crashed out in straight sets against Ivan Dodig.
The 28-year-old Tsonga, who beat compatriot Gael Monfils in the opening round, was left to rue missed chances as Dodig claimed a 6-4 7-6 (7-5) win.

Dodig saved three break points en route to victory, while the Croat took his only opportunity in the first set.

However fifth seed Michal Przysiezny and Janko Tipsarevic, the No 8 seed, both bowed out.

Przysiezny suffered a 6-7 (7-4) 6-4 6-2 loss to Jarkko Nieminen, while Alexandr Dolgopolov accounted for Tipsarevic 6-3 7-6 (7-2).

In first round action, Milos Raonic ended the challenge of home hope Go Soeda, with the No 3 seed registering a 6-4 7-6 (7-0) win.

Jeremy Chardy also came through his opening match, with the Frenchman digging deep to beat Marco Chiudinelli 7-6 (7-2) 3-6 7-6 (8-6)
